 In News
christian_video_thumbChristian Halten is a Berlin-based film composer focused on soundtracks for feature films and documentaries with unusual concepts. Creating and exploring new instrumental sounds is always his first step when searching for fresh material to go with the images. While exploring BioTek, Christian was inspired to create a bank of 40 news sounds which are now available to all BioTek users. Just download the latest BioTek build from your Tracktion account to get Christian’s sounds, many of which can be heard on the video he produced.
Christian started his career with the composition of the electronic score for the National Geographic co-produced documentary “MORAIG” which is about the search for sweet water in an underwater cave labyrinth on the Iberian Peninsula. For this score he dove into the abyss of the D-50 synthesizer, learning what he was doing to the sound when changing the zillion parameters. That was a profound experience inducing a love and appreciation for sound which lasts to this day.

christian_films_2After his studies of film music and sound design at the Filmakademie in Ludwigsburg, Germany, he was granted a scholarship that led him to Los Angeles, where he worked with Henning Lohner, Klaus Badelt and Hans Zimmer on Hollywood film productions such as “Catwoman” and “The Ring 2”. Returning to Germany he moved to Berlin and built his new SKYLIFE studio for film music production contributing music to cinematic movies like “Double Take”, “The Story of the Astronaut” and also additional music to “Cahier Africain”.

Apart from film scores for feature films and documentaries, Christian has also worked as Audio Director for the video game production “Arcania – A Gothic Tale” and is the inventor of the professional sampling software “SampleRobot”. For the iOS apps “Buchla Easel Remote Control” and “Giggler – Marvellous Movie Sound” he worked as Creative Director, Project Manager and Sound Designer. At the moment he is collaborating with Frédérick Rousseau for the iOS version of the innovative Ircam tuner “The Snail”.
